About

Pathway Housing Solutions.

Who Are We?

We are Pathway Housing Solutions, a not for profit housing organisation. We are based in Nottinghamshire; but operate across the entire East Midlands region.

As a social enterprise, any profits that we generate gets reinvested back into the organisation.  It helps us to pursue our objectives and to keep us running.

We build new homes, and renovate empty properties, to provide affordable homes for rent or to buy.

We also provide on-site training in construction, to improve employment opportunities.

Our aim is to help raise awareness of the alternative routes to affordable housing, in particular community led housing options.

About Us?

Pathway Housing Solutions primary focus is to facilitate the provision and maintenance of good quality, affordable housing.

Our mission is to change the housing market by creating housing options for those individuals and families in housing need.  This could be people on low and moderate incomes, that find it difficult to rent or buy at local market rates. We help to create solutions for people to either rent homes at affordable rents or buy homes at affordable prices; whichever is most appropriate for their needs.

We are truly passionate about our mission because we truly believe that everyone has the right to own a home for life.

We work in partnership with Local Authorities, Community and Voluntary organisations, in delivering a range of community-based services and projects including holiday sports clubs for children, drop in centres for the elderly and feeding programmes, thereby helping to sustain and develop thriving communities.

Being a  social enterprise we reinvesting any surplus money back into the organisation which helps to make our services even more efficient and therefore affordable.

Building Futures.

Working Together

We are very much a community focused organisation, and we are always looking for ways to create opportunities for people in local communities to thrive together. We have a strong value base; working together, showing respect and compassion. Our vision is to empower people to help themselves whilst helping others too. We see this as a way to build strong cohesive communities. With this in mind we also work hand in hand together with local volunteers; individuals who want to make a positive impact in their own communities and give something back. We employ this unique way of empowering local communities in all areas of our projects.

What is Self-Help Housing?

Self-Help Housing involves groups of local people bringing back into use empty properties that are derelict, awaiting decisions about their future use or their redevelopment.

Self-help housing groups negotiate with the owners of empty properties for their use and then go on to organise whatever repairs are necessary to make them habitable. Those who benefit from these projects are normally groups of people who can’t afford to buy their own housing and whose housing needs are such that they will not be offered a permanent tenancy by the local authority or a housing association (e.g. all sorts of single people, couples, young people, refugees etc).

The video below demonstrates how self- help housing can be organised and the positive impact that this can have on people lives.
